Distractions

  • Dec. 2nd, 2008 at 1:27 PM
Determined not to let myself get distracted. Working from ome today, as I feel ill, and theres no chance I'll cope with the bus. To be honest I'll do more work at home anyway. Got some sewing to do, and photoshop at uni takes me three times as long to do with those blasted macs. And theres no internet, so resource photos for drawing are more complicated, I don't like the library.

Drawing chaffinchs and war today.. Fun.

Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing there at all.

DD'ed

I have a Daily Deviation... wooo. But now I have hundreds of messages on dA that i have to try and read/reply to, otherwise i just feel bad.

Been painting my book, was hoping to put some pictures up today, but I woke up too late, been replying to messages all over the place and the paint is taking longer to dry than I thought. Been a busy day today. But I shall try tomorrow, and wake up earlier this time.

My new plugs worthy of taping should arrive next week, from Thailand. And my shiny new debit card hascome too, and I've set up paypal, so I can finally sell my 12mm plugs, to make new funds for some 16mm stuff... I've been eyeing up these for a while. I don't have much in the way of things to sell though, so I might struggle a bit, but I can try.

I might even start selling things on etsy or ebay or something. I shall be rich! Just as soon as I find out what to make....

Another blog

  • May. 30th, 2008 at 11:27 AM
So this is my new blog, the previous posts are relavent ones from my private wordpress account that I've transferred over here. I'll still update the other one more often, but most of the stuff here will probably be the same kind of thing. But then you can't read that one anyway :D

To be honest I only really joined up to join some of the groups, and some friends.  Wordpress can be rather lonely, though I'm not quite convinced I like the idea of people I know spying on me.

Some of the layout is a little messed up, I have to write some things, and I've got to try and navigate myself around, so I apologise for the mess.

Stretching

Cause its summer, I'm going to start taping my lobes again, yay. And this time I actually going to aim for the same size. At the moment, they're 13mm and 6mm, rather a large difference and I don't like it. So for a while my goal has been 15mm, but American sizes are 14 or 16mm and they're the ones who make all the pretty plugs.. So I've decided bigger is better, here I come 16mm!

So if anyone can find me some white plugs, as cheap as possible, between 6 and 16mm, it would be much appreciated. I don't care about material at all really. And I also want some 4mm externally threaded white balls, and some 4 and 5mm beads too...

I've been eyeing up these white heat ones (£3). Acrylics not great, but seeing as I'm taping the material doesn't matter. Ideally wanted them a bit cheaper, the double flared ones are £2, but I doubt they'd be handy for taping. Meh, might go see if anyones got any on the swappies once my bank card eventually comes through and I can set up paypal.

Also found these amazing looking plugs, but at $300, are rather out of my price range, maybe if I ever get married or something... They just look so nice though.

Its a piercing day today, and seeing as I'll get my bonus soon (which I probably need to save but nvm) I'm starting to look into a new piercing addition. And the more I look at them the more I want cheek piercings, they're so pretty and feminine. Though I'll probaly just get a medusa. I'm looking into going to Cardiff for that though. Its not too far on the train, and a couple of people I know have recommended it already.

I'm also on the lookout for some black dichro plugs, that I'm not even sure exist.

Watercolours

I recently acquired some liquid watercolours, and they are really really nice. Vibrant colours, and blend really well. And they take a while to dry, so I don't have to rush around too much. I really really like them. I only have 5 colours for now (black, light yellow, deep green, red violet and and vermillion), but I might actually buy some more, I like them that much. They're not as expensive as I thought, but still quite dear. Just need to decide on some colours, so much choice. I need a blue, thats all I've decided for the moment.

Colour chart here if you feel like helping

Haven't done an awful lot with them yet, but I'm trying stuff out with them. They lend themselves to ink drawings quite well. And I've actually made some okay delicate girly type drawings, which rarely ever happen.

I've finished college for good now. But I need to keep my drawing skills up, or start getting them back. Because I don't want to turn up to uni and realised I've forgotten how to draw. Practise, practise, practise.

The End of an Era

23rd May 2008

Today was the last ever day of college for me. Next stop university. I'm not quite sure what I should write about it really, it just feels strange.

I also got my final marks today. DDM = Distinction, Distinction, Merit, which is really good. Ooooh.... 320 Ucas points for me, I needed 200 for a degree course, yet the one I'm going to do only needed 60 points. Wonderful choice I made there. Oh well, I still need a specialism, hopefully it'll help me decide. I'm leaning towards sculpture at the moment, though I've never done. I think I'd ideally like to do modelling, But I'm not even sure a course exists for that.

I've sort of set-up my exhibition. It looks a bit empty compared to last years. But its only one unit, so I suppose that's okay. Now I just need to find out when it is, and drag the boyfriend along, so I can spy on people
and find out what they really think.

And I'm off to the cinema tomorrow night, to watch Indiana Jones. That should be fun, just a pity I hate Indiana Jones. I don't like Star Wars or James Bond either, meh, shoot me.

Exam Time

  • May. 29th, 2008 at 5:32 PM

May 14th 2008

I've been a little busy. It's exam time!!

Heres what its meant to look likeIts only a practical art exam, but its 2 weeks long. A long time for me to pay attention to anything. Its about environmental issues, not the most fun subject, so I chose recycling. And somehow I seem to making a dress from newspaper and plastic bags, and I can't sew much at all.

I've still got quite a while to go, and lots of details and things to add, But I seem to have gotten rather sidetracked. I started of making a little hat, but my dummy has no head, so I'm giving a head from beauty a makeover, complete with piercings. But the inks running everywhere, and the skin is weird paint so its grubby after the slightest touch. So that's not finished either. And the poor dog is terrified of it.

Well here's my dress, looking wonky as its about to fall off the stool, and a view from the back with some of the trim added. Note the tape everywhere trying desperately to hold it onto the dummy while I sew it. I should have made it on of the soft dressmakers dummies, but they were all fat and odd shapes..

Uni accepted my acception of their offer.. And its expensive! Even if the tuition fees are all paid for its still so expensive. There's over £100 on exam fees, £300 for materials and a trip that I have to go on. Aw I need a job.
